It is with a heavy heart that I post this. We lost our wonderful Large Black sow, Roxy last Sunday. Roxy was no ordinary Heritage Hog, no she was so much more. I feel so blessed that I had the chance to raise her and I certainly did not deserve her. Roxy gave us large litters, weaned all of them and she was always the first to greet me with the kindest grunt.
My biggest regret is that I did not have the chance to say goodbye and tell her how much I dearly loved her.
Roxy had an amazing litter in May of 2019 and I thank God that I chose to keep 4 boarlings to watch and grow out. This will enable us to have one of Roxy's sons as our future herd boar. When I look and interact with him I will always think of his dear mother and all the wonderful times that we had together.
No, Roxy was not an ordinary pig, she was something special and so much more!
RIP Roxy and thank you for filling my heart with joy!
